28 July 2017 – The EU High-Level Expert Group (HLEG) on Sustainable Finance launched their interim report in Brussels on Tuesday 18 July. To support the launch of the interim report, CISL co-hosted an event in London with Climate Bonds, which was attended by over 120 representatives from the European finance sector including banks, insurance and investment firms.

CISL is the only academic institution represented on the HLEG and will remain involved in the drafting of the final report due in December 2017.

Kajetan Czyz, Programme Director for Sustainable Finance at CISL said:

“Following the G20 and FSB sustainable finance initiatives focused on best practice and disclosure, the HLEG is now making direct policy recommendations aimed at embedding sustainability into the foundations of the European financial system. Financing the transition in the real economy is a priority, which is why Vice Presidents of the European Commission, Jyrki Katainen and Valdis Dombrovskis have committed to begin implementing the recommendations as early as Spring 2018.”

A consultation process is now open, seeking feedback from those working in the finance sector. Responses to the consultation questionnaire can be submitted until Wednesday 20 Sept 2017.
