7 June 2018 – We are delighted to welcome our newly-appointed research Fellows and Senior Associates to the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL). They bring with them a wealth of experience from their work in business, governments and civil society that enables CISL to pioneer positive change across global industries.


Our new Fellows

Paul Fisher

After an initial academic career as a macroeconomist specialising in large-scale models, Paul was a senior figure at the Bank of England for 26 years, retiring in July 2016. He was a member of the Monetary Policy Committee, the interim Financial Policy Committee and the PRA Board. Paul was also responsible in latter years for co-ordinating the Bank’s work on climate change.

Philippe Joubert

Philippe is Executive Chair of Global Electricity Initiative, Senior Advisor & MD - Energy & Climate, WBCSD and is an Advisory Board member for CISL.

Angus Morrison-Saunders

Angus is Professor in Environmental Management within the School of Science, Edith Cowan University, Australia and Extraordinary Professor in Environmental Sciences and Management at North West University, South Africa.

Yu Xiong

Professor Yu Xiong is the Chair of Technology and Operations Management in Newcastle Business School of Northumbria University. Over the period of this appointment he has held the responsibility of Co-Director, North East Innovation Observatory (led by North East Local Economic Partnership), as well as Director of Enterprise Engagement.


Our new Senior Associates

Zoë Arden

Zoë is an expert in communications and stakeholder engagement. She was managing director of global marcoms firms Golin and Weber and was BT Retail’s director of communications and sustainability. She is an associate at think tank SustainAbility and a board trustee of Hubbub and Bioregional. She is the convenor of CISL’s new online course on High Impact Leadership.

Michael Hoevel

Michael is a communications and media expert based in London, UK. He has worked with the private sector, various United Nations agencies, national governments, think tanks and NGOs all over the world – on a range of diverse issues from sustainable agriculture and climate change to global health, biotechnology and legal reform.

Mashudu Ramano

The Founder & Chief Executive Officer of the Mitochondria Energy Company, Mashadu is a keen advocate of sustainable entrepreneurship and a company director with extensive experience working with listed and unlisted companies in South Africa.
