28 October 2019 – The Royal Warrant Holders Association opens the call for new applications.
The scholarships are available for deserving British and/or Commonwealth nationals to attend the Master of Studies in Sustainability Leadership. Sustainability is a key pillar for every Royal Warrant holding company and the scholarships are intended to support ‘game changing’ leaders of tomorrow who will drive more sustainable corporate behaviour where they work and beyond.
The value of scholarships awarded will be between 25–100% of the Combined Graduate Fee. Funding is currently available for the equivalent of one fully-funded place, hence between one and four scholarships may be awarded.
To be considered for this scholarship, candidates must apply to the Master’s through the standard admissions process and emailed CISL a separate scholarship application letter by 31 January 2020.
The first two Royal Warrant Holders Association (RWHA) Sustainability Leadership Scholars, Ruth Blackshaw and Stephanie Hyde, are undertaking their part-time Master’s at the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL). Others will soon be following in their footsteps as the programme continues to build over the coming years.
Ruth Blackshaw
Ruth currently works in the UNAIDS Executive Office where she provides strategic support to the Chief of Staff and Executive Director. Ruth is passionate about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the role of business in reaching the SDGs and young people’s capacity to drive change. She has been working for UNAIDS for six years on policymaking and strategy development at the intersection of global health and sustainable development, including two years in New York contributing to the inter-governmental negotiations that led to the SDGs. In 2016, Ruth initiated Young UN: Agents for Change – now a 850+ member strong global network working towards a shared vision of a UN that fully embodies the principles it stands for. Ruth previously worked at the European Commission (DG DEVCO) in Brussels and studied Geography at the University of Cambridge.
Stephanie Hyde
Stephanie has over 10 years of experience working in sustainability. She has specific expertise in regulatory compliance, waste management and environmental management systems. Following an undergraduate degree in Environmental Management from Keele University, she started her early career as a lobbyist, representing British industry views on recycling policy at national and EU level. She was instrumental in developing a collection network and compliance regime for waste batteries in England and Wales, together with successfully achieving significant amendments to other waste related regulation such as the WEEE Directive. Subsequent to this, Stephanie worked on a number of collaborative, grass-roots recycling projects for a range of sectors from higher education to food service businesses, providing consultancy and project management support. For the last 4 years, Stephanie has focused her career in environmental management systems, firstly working with a new start up in waste software, and now working for UL in the capacity of Product Specialist for their environment, health and safety software division.
