12 July 2018 – On the third anniversary of Rewiring the Economy, CISL hosted 30 leading businesses on a roundtable on the future of sustainable business.
Around the world, business innovation is leading to rapid and transformational changes in technology, consumption patterns and lifestyle aspirations. At the same time, societies are looking to business to lead change in response to urgent and systemic social and environmental challenges.
Rewiring the Economy identified four core tasks that business leaders can pursue to succeed commercially, manage impacts, create trust and deliver the SDGs:
- Align organisational purpose, strategy and business models
- Set evidence-based targets, measure and be transparent
- Embed sustainability in practices and decisions
- Engage, collaborate and advocate change
Speaking at the event, Aris Vrettos, Director of International and Open Programmes said:
“Almost every industry is going through a period of tremendous change, increased commercial pressures and rising expectations on business leadership. These forward-looking companies have come together to share emerging practice, identify areas for collaboration and explore difficult questions at the heart of sustainable business”.
The group included business leaders across technology and communications, health, transport, energy, chemicals, materials, retail, FMCG, fashion, banking and investment, and real estate, as well as government agencies and regulators.
