Biography:

Through his work with organisations both large and small, he has not only cultivated his passion for business, but also recognised the benefits of organisations being more accountable for balancing profit and growth with social and environmental aims.

Pravin holds a Masters in Sustainability Leadership from the University of Cambridge, in which he completed studies on corporate sustainability in financial services, and natural capital valuation initiatives. His dissertation focused on the location decision-making of enterprises within the global cleantech sector, lessons from which he is incorporating into his advisory practice. He also holds an MBA from Queen's University, a Bachelor of Arts, Economics from the University of Western Ontario and a graduate certificate in Executive Coaching from Royal Roads University.

Pravin holds the designation of Certified Management Consultant in Canada. His independent management consulting practice supports enterprise clients in multiple industry verticals in implementing large-scale, mission-critical change, including change for sustainability. The firm considers the people, process and technology aspects of such change. With its growing focus on the clean technology and social enterprise spaces, Mentis now includes advisory and implementation assistance throughout the venture cycle in the areas of financing, product road-mapping, partnerships and market development. As an executive coach, he helps clients recognise and better understand the links between their profit imperatives and the true costs of achieving them, as impetus for innovation in business practice toward more sustainable business models.

Under the banner of his company, Pravin has instituted a modest bursary for self funding applicants from the cleantech and social venture sectors to the MSt, Sustainability Leadership at CISL to encourage applications from this sector. The bursary was recently awarded for the third year in 2018, this time to Renata Puchala, who is currently member of the Board of Directors of Sistema B Brazil, works as a sustainability consultant, and is enrolled in 'Climate Venture Initiative' for the development of a low carbon economy in Brazil.
