Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL)

Kayla is the Course Director for the University of Cambridge’s Master’s and Postgraduate Certificate in Sustainability Leadership for the Built Environment (IDBE) and a Programme Director in the postgraduate education team at the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL).

Biography

Kayla has been working full-time in the postgraduate education team at CISL since 2015.  She is the Course Director for the Sustainability Leadership in the Built Environment (IDBE) programmes and is involved in new programme development.  She delivers teaching on CISL programmes and to others in the University on built environment topics, research skills, and teamworking and leadership skills.  She has supervised and examined a number of students on their MSt dissertations.  Kayla is a licensed New York State Architect with 10 years professional experience working in the US and the UK as an architect and urban designer. Kayla’s PhD, from the University of Cambridge, looked at how English planning impacts the thermal improvement of conservation properties.  She holds a Master's of Architecture and Master's of Urban Design from Washington University in St Louis, and a BSc from the University of Virginia.  Kayla is particularly interested in teaching skills for effective teamworking and leadership, and how continuing education for working professionals can enhance and enrich their professional practice towards a sustainable future.
