Biography

Judith practised as an architect for many years both in the UK and Portugal on housing and commercial projects. Following the completion of a Master's in Energy Efficient and Sustainable Building at Oxford Brookes University, Judith worked in academia and consultancy, focusing specifically on retrofitting and energy efficiency in the built environment. Judith held the post of Research Associate at the Centre for Sustainable Development at the University of Cambridge and Research Fellow at Oxford Brookes University. Her collaborative research programmes have included ‘Scenario Planning for the Future of Energy Management in Buildings and Property Developments’, ‘RETROFIT 2050’ exploring social and technical pathways for the systemic retrofitting of UK city-regions, 'Evaluating the outcomes of energy efficiency projects under the government capital NHS Energy Efficiency Fund' and a joint submission for ‘Retrofit for the Future’ demonstrator low carbon retrofits of social housing.

Judith currently manages energy efficiency loans programmes for the public sector at Salix Finance, a not for profit company funded by the Department of Energy and Climate Change.

Her research interests are around long-term sustainability in the built environment at building, neighbourhood and city-scale level with a specific interest in low carbon futures and retrofitting.
