08 October 2014 – The BEI has recently welcomed its newest member, Standard Chartered, to its group of 11 global banks leading on directing capital towards sustainable economic development.

Mark Devadason, Group Head of Sustainability at Standard Chartered, said: 

“Standard Chartered is committed to being a force for good, promoting sustainable economic and social development. We believe that joining the Banking Environment Initiative is a natural step in our sustainability journey, enabling the collaborative action that is necessary to bring about environmentally and socially sustainable economic development. We support the aims of the BEI and look forward to working with peer BEI members on existing and new initiatives as well as using the BEI as a platform for engagement with parties outside the banking industry to amplify outcomes.”
