10 December 2014 – The Prince of Wales’s Corporate Leaders Group (CLG), in partnership with the British Embassy Lima, the UK Department of Energy and Climate Change, and the Peruvian Environment Ministry will host a high level cocktail reception and dinner, to explore the benefits of the EU Green Growth Platform (GGP).

10 December 2014: Green Growth Leadership reception at UNFCC COP20, Lima

The event will discuss the importance of green growth and ways in which governments can foster growth, jobs, and competitiveness whilst decarbonising their economies, and explore how the GGP concept could be harnessed by Latin American counterparts.

The launch of this new dialogue comes at a critical point in the UN negotiating and decision making process as Lima shows the way to Paris. Non-state actors are increasingly given a role to play in the negotiations by showing what is possible through climate action. The EU Green Growth Platform has so far served as a facilitator of deep exchange between decision makers and business and has enhanced the necessary search for low carbon solutions that enable jobs, growth and competitiveness. The possibility of similar platforms developing in the Latin American region is welcomed as a way to broaden the dialogue and create avenues for regional and global collaboration. Laying the foundation for a Latin American regional and multi-sectorial dialogue for green growth could become an exciting and ground-breaking part of Peru’s legacy in hosting COP20.
