Project Manager, Sustainable Finance Portfolio

Salary: £28,098 - £33,518

Vacancy reference number EN16032

How do we create the financial system of tomorrow, one that drives an inclusive economy and operates within the boundaries of a finite planet? This question lies at the heart of the finance sectors leadership on sustainable development. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with the passion to play a key project management and analytical support role in our work with finance institutions and policymakers.

The University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL) empowers leaders to build a sustainable economy. We do this by catalysing leadership through our business and policy platforms and excellent educational programmes, informed by research from the University of Cambridge and elsewhere.

CISL has a strong focus on the finance sector. Our Sustainable Finance team works with groups of leading firms in the global investment, banking and insurance industries. Through the Investment Leaders Group, Banking Environment Initiative and ClimateWise group respectively, we aim to improve their resilience and risk management, and facilitate positive impact and digital transformation. The role holder will be involved in a range of projects across the three platforms.

Applicants should be committed to the values that underpin CISL's work and demonstrate the following essential skills and experience:

  • Project management, including managing staff and external suppliers, financial planning and delivering work to a consistently high quality within the project budgets;
  • Demonstrable interest in working with financial institutions, in addition to academics, policymakers and others to help drive a leadership response to sustainability challenges;
  • Capability to project manage and deliver through others;
  • Ability to develop high levels of trust and credibility in relationships with senior stakeholders;
  • Ability to work within a small partially virtual team, often under time pressure, using own initiative to manage competing priorities and to manage others in this context;
  • Strong written communication skills, enabling delivery of a logical narrative for a range of audiences;
  • Ability to communicate orally in a clear, concise and persuasive manner to a range of audiences;
  • Experience of managing events across a range of formats (e.g. conferences, workshops, round table meetings);
  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent).

This post is offered on a full-time, permanent basis in an important growth area for CISL. Informal enquiries may be made to the CISL Human Resources team; human.resources@cisl.cam.ac.uk
