CISL Marketing Manager

The closing date for applications is Sunday 13 January 2019.

CISL Marketing Manager

Salary: £30, 395- £39,609

The University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL) is a globally influential institute working to develop leadership and solutions towards a sustainable economy. The Marketing Manager sits within a Corporate Relations and Communications team, which contributes to CISL’s long-term growth and strategic impact by building our reputation and profile as a global thought leader and attracting outstanding global executives to our Education and Leadership Programmes.

The Marketing Manager plays a pivotal role, sitting centrally, but working across portfolios and markets.  The role has a high degree of autonomy and is being advertised at a particularly exciting time for the Institute as we plan to continue our growth. We are launching a number of new initiatives in 2019, and will move to a new low carbon building in the centre of Cambridge in 2020, which will serve as a collaboration zone and catalyst for research, education, engagement and sustainable change.  Last year we launched the Prince of Wales Global Research Fellowship Programme, and we are planning a start-up incubator for SMEs in the Cambridge and Peterborough region alongside a new advisory service for corporates.

We are looking for a self-starting, ambitious marketing manager who can build on the success we’ve had to date and bring new ideas, fresh thinking and professional practice to our marketing operations.  We are a commercially focused, yet mission driven institute and this provides exceptional opportunities for the right individual.

Working across the educational product portfolio and at an organisational level, the Marketing Manager will focus on:

  • Developing and delivering the organisational marketing plan
  • Promoting the Institute’s thought leadership and enhancing brand awareness
  • Promoting executive education and post-graduate programmes, advisory services and leadership groups
  • Working with Programme Directors to create marketing initiatives to drive recruitment of educational programmes including online, graduate and executive-level courses
  • Facilitating client relations across the organisation to increase engagement and value across the organisation (we will launch our new CRM in 2019)
  • Maintaining and mobilising CISL’s network of individual and organisational relationships, including management of the CISL Network strategy and CISL Global Ambassador programme

Applicants must be committed to the values that underpin CISL’s work and will be expected to demonstrate the following essential skills and experience:

  • Experience of delivering successful marketing, promotional campaigns and events across a range of channels online, offline and by email
  • Development and review of products and propositions from a marketing perspective
  • Experience using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems for marketing
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills
  • A persuasive communicator in writing and in person, with the ability to speak confidently and professionally with senior business leaders, academics & clients
  • Ability to produce high quality marketing and promotional materials, including copy-writing experience
  • A basic understanding or willingness to learn about key sustainability concepts
  • Experience managing partner and agency relationships
  • Self-starting attitude and ability to drive own work whilst working as part of a team
  • Effective prioritisation and attention to detail, whilst working to multiple and tight deadlines
  • Numerate, with experience of managing a marketing budget
  • Qualification to at least degree level or equivalent.  A marketing-related degree and/or membership of a professional body such as the Chartered Institute for Marketing (CIM) would be an advantage, but relevant experience is just as valuable.

This post is offered on a full-time, permanent basis, based in Cambridge.  Informal enquiries may be made to the CISL Human Resources team:
