Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL)

24 August 2015 – We are pleased to announce that José Lopez is joining the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership as a Fellow, and will be supporting the Institute to help businesses to operationalise sustainability and develop the leaders of tomorrow.

José LopezOur Fellows bring a wealth of experience from their work in business and policy contexts. They apply this insight to CISL’s research projects, to our engagement with companies, and to the design and delivery of our executive education programmes.

José will focus on CISL’s natural capital work, strengthening the commercial focus to ensure that the knowledge and tools created are designed to support companies to operationalise and integrate sustainability. In addition, he will take up a key role in CISL's education faculty to equip future leaders to be able to perform commercially, integrating awareness of their context and a clear sense of purpose into their thinking and decisions.

On his appointment, José commented: "I'm proud to be joining CISL to work alongside CISL’s staff and its distinguished team of Fellows and academic collaborators. I have always believed in the importance of companies having an academic partner to help them understand their context and to support their thinking as they develop and implement plans to operationalise sustainability. I am delighted to be taking this opportunity to work more closely at this important interface between business and academia."

In a career spanning more than 30 years at Nestlé, José has held a number of positions including Operations Director of the Oceania region and CEO of Nestlé Japan. At Nestlé, José has established a sustainability framework for the group to support a business strategy that drives economic value from enhanced social and environmental outcomes. He has been a member of the Executive Board since 2007.
