09 September 2014 – During the most highly rated session of the week, the BEI presented its work on sustainable trade finance work at the largest trade finance conference in the world.
Feedback from attendees during the session indicated rising awareness and uptake of sustainable trade finance practices, with a fifth of delegates reporting that changes in market and customer practice had increased their awareness in this area over the last year. A quarter indicated that industry-level guidance for banks would incentivise participation in sustainable trade finance practices, whilst over 40% stated that they would welcome government intervention to support further uptake of these initiatives.
