The winner of the 2014 Unilever Sustainable Living Young Entrepreneurs Award was Daniel Yu, 21, founder of Reliefwatch – providing simple software helping medical clinics in the developing world to digitise and manage inventory records for better patient outcomes.
Daniel was awarded The Prince of Wales Prize at a prestigious awards ceremony and dinner at The Guildhall, London, UK on 27 January 2015. The prize is the top accolade in the Unilever Sustainable Living Young Entrepreneurs Awards, delivered in partnership with the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership.
Six other young entrepreneurs leading initiatives with impact in areas such as health, micro enterprise, waste, climate change and smallholder farming were also amongst the celebrated finalists in last year’s awards.
The overall winner in 2013 was Gamal Albinsaid of Garbage Clinical Insurance in Indonesia.
Gamal’s innovative project helps the poorest communities to gain access to health services and education through the collection and recycling of garbage. His project benefitted from a prize fund of €50,000 in financial support and a package of individually tailored mentoring from both the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership and Unilever.
